![]() Water is a compound composed of the elements hydrogen and oxygen. A substance that can be broken down into chemically simpler components (because it has more than one element) is a compound. Aluminum, which is used in soda cans, is an element. A substance that cannot be broken down into chemically simpler components is an element. ![]() Elements and CompoundsĪny sample of matter that has the same physical and chemical properties throughout the sample is called a substance. An example of a chemical property is flammability-a materials ability to burn-because burning (also known as combustion) changes the chemical composition of a material. Chemical properties are characteristics that describe how the chemical structure of matter changes during a chemical reaction. Physical Changes, such as melting a solid into a liquid, do not alter the chemical structure of that matter. Physical properties are characteristics that describes matter, such as boiling point, melting point and color. The properties that chemists use to describe matter fall into two general categories. One way chemists describe matter is to assign different kinds of properties to different categories. Part of understanding matter is being able to describe it. ![]() Chemistry lies more or less in the middle, which emphasizes its importance to many branches of science. Figure 2.1 shows how many of the individual fields of science are related.įigure 2.1: The Relationships Between Some of the Major Branches of Science. Similarly, geology and chemistry overlap in the field called geochemistry. For example, some biologists and chemists work in both fields so much that their work is called biochemistry. Mathematics and Physics are the languages of science, and we will use them to communicate some of the ideas of chemistry.Īlthough we divide science into different fields, there is much overlap among them. Thus, chemistry is the study of matter, biology is the study of living things, and geology is the study of rocks and the earth. Because the physical universe is so vast, there are many different branches of science (Figure 2.1). is the process by which we learn about the natural universe by observing, testing, and then generating models that explain our observations. Science is the process by which we learn about the natural universe by observing, testing, and then generating models that explain our observations. This includes advances in medicine, communication, transportation, building infrastructure, food science and agriculture, and nearly every other technical field that you can imagine.Ĭhemistry is one branch of science. From the color that makes a rose so red to the gasoline that fills our cars and the silicon chips that power our computers and cell phones…Chemistry is everywhere! ![]() If you choose this option and your extract includes joins, the joins will be applied when the extract is created. Tableau uses Logical Tables as the default structure for storing extract data. This option also works well when your data includes pass-through functions (RAWSQL). If you want to limit the amount of data in your extract and use additional extract properties like filters, aggregation, or Top N, you should select Logical Tables. On the other hand, physical tables store data in one extract table for each physical table in the data source. Logical tables store data in one extract table for each logical table in the data source. Under Data Storage you can select either Logical or Physical tables. This section walks you through each field. You can configure numerous fields when creating an extract. If the Save dialog box doesn't display, see the Troubleshoot extracts section. Next, select a location to save the extract. This initiates the creation of the extract. Select the Incremental refreshbox, and then specify the table to refresh and a column in the database that will be used to identify new rows. You can extract All rows, Sample, or the Top N rows. Select the number of rows you want to extract. (Optional) Select Roll up dates to a specified date level such as Year, Month, etc. Select Aggregate data for visible dimensions to aggregate the measures using their default aggregation. For assistance with this step see the Data Storage section.Įxpand Filters to set up filters to limit how much data gets extracted based on fields and their values. ![]() Under Data Storage, select either Logical Tables or Physical Tables. There are multiple options available within your Tableau workflow to create an extract, but the main approach is explained below.Īfter you connect to your data and set up the data source on the Data Source page, in the upper-right corner, select Extract, and then select the Edit link to open the Extract Data dialog box. This means that even when the original data source isn't available, users can still save, manipulate, and work with the data locally. Offline data access (Tableau Desktop): Extracts allow for offline access to data. Extracts optimize query performance, resulting in faster data analysis and visualization.Įnhanced functionality: Extracts provide access to additional Tableau functionality that may not be available or supported by the original data source.įor instance, users can leverage extracts to compute Count Distinct, enabling more advanced calculations and analysis. Improved performance: Interacting with views that utilize extract data sources results in better performance compared to views connected directly to the original data. This allows users to work with extensive datasets efficiently. Handling large datasets: Extracts can handle massive amounts of data, even reaching billions of rows. Note: Starting from version 2024.1, Tableau introduces a feature that enables users to perform incremental refreshes on extracts using a non-unique key column. During the refresh process, you have the flexibility to choose between a full refresh, which replaces all existing content in the extract, or an incremental refresh, which only includes new rows since the previous refresh. Once a data extract is created, it can be refreshed with the latest data from the original source. By creating a data extract, you can effectively reduce the overall data volume by applying filters and setting other limitations. It serves two purposes: to enhance performance and to utilize Tableau features that may not be available or supported in the original data. A data extract is a subset of information that is saved separately from the original dataset.

Wetransfer email scam5/1/2024 You’ll just have to share that link yourself, which is the whole point-you can’t use WeTransfer to pretend to be someone else.) WeTransfer accounts (If you really don’t want to verify your email address, you can still use WeTransfer to upload files and get a download link. With email verification in place across WeTransfer, you can trust that every transfer has really been sent from the email address it says it’s from. This has been one of our most requested features over the past few months. ![]() We also verify the email addresses of all WeTransfer accounts. We now verify every email address that’s used to do things on WeTransfer. That’s why we’ve been rolling out a series of new features to improve your security on our platform. It means that we value your safety and security over sheer profits or popularity. The benefits no longer outweighed the risks of abuse.īecause putting people first means being a responsible tech company. Every digital platform has had to respond to this reality, and it finally came to a point where WeTransfer’s simplicity was no longer putting people first. Phishing scams, impersonation, and offensive hacking attacks have become increasingly commonplace. However, simplicity can sometimes be abused. Millions of people appreciated this simplicity, and we have worked hard over the past ten years to stay true to this principle. Need to send big files? All you had to do was add your files, the email address of the person you wanted to send them to, and pop in your email address so we could let you know when your files had been downloaded. ![]() We have always prioritized keeping you in your flow. WeTransfer was founded on the principle of people first, creativity second, and technology third. Bastiaan Terhorst VP Engineering May 14, 2020

Find a grave for georgia farley5/1/2024 ![]() The nine that lived were: James Pierce Self (my great-grandfather), Nancy Ellen Self, Luvenie Hazeltine Self, Martha Rachel “Mattie” Self, Levi Brantley Self, Cora Ioma Self, Yancy Sylvester Self, Milton Odus Self and Vada Estelle Self. John and Gemimia had eleven children, according to the 1910 Census. John was too young to serve in the Civil War when it began and too old to serve in World War I, so was never in the military. He married Gemimia Elizabeth Hall, daughter of Levi Hall and Emily Caroline Cooper, on Decemin Jefferson County, Alabama. John was the son of Jesse Ellis Self and Sarah Taylor. (I have not been able to find a death certificate for him.) ![]() According to census records, he was born in March of 1858, and his headstone has his date of death as 1916. John Wesley Self was my great-great grandfather. Another dead-end in my search for information on Josie & Mamie and their parentage, but definitely a memorable search. I walked back to my car just shaking my head. So, I thanked her for talking to me, told her I understood and to have a good day. I just wanted to talk to you about Josie and see if you could tell me anything about her.” Her reply was that she doesn’t know anything about Josie and that her son doesn’t want her opening the door for people she doesn’t know. She said, “Well, I don’t open my door for people I don’t know.” So, I said, “Okay, I understand. I told her my name and she said, “I don’t think I know you.” I said, “No ma’am, we’ve never met, but my great-great-grandmother and your grandmother were sisters.” She said, “Oh, I don’t know anything about that.” So I asked if I could talk to her for a few minutes (still talking through the door, because she hadn’t opened it). She came to the back door, where I had knocked, and asked who it was (through the door). I knocked again and I heard her get off the telephone. The lady was on the telephone when I first knocked…I could hear her talking through the wall. We found the house (finally) and I got out of the car and went to knock on the door by myself. (I had tried calling her phone number in the past, but never got an answer.) I looked up her address and my mother and I drove to Empire this afternoon looking for the woman. Through the information gleaned several years ago from another of Josie’s descendants, I was able to find a granddaughter of Josie’s who is still living. Her name was Josephine “Josie” Ellison (or Allison) Crawford. Mamie had one sister that I have been able to track a little. Sometimes you have to work on a collateral line to get to where you want to go. I had to make a trip “home” to Jefferson County today and after a conversation with my mother last night about Mamie, I decided to run down a lead while in the area. in the photo and I was told by my grandmother, Gladys, that Catherine died in Cedartown, Georgia. Supposedly, her mother’s name was Catherine Gallagher Ellison or Allison and she was Black Dutch. ![]() As I mentioned in a previous post, the parentage of my great-great-grandmother, Mamie Ellison (or Allison) Farley Key, has been a dead-end in my research efforts. |
